A few days ago, the French national lottery game operator La Française des Jeux (FDJ) announced that in 2022, the company has harvested a total of 20.6 billion euros in bets, an increase of 8.7% compared to last year. Among them, one of the keys to promoting the growth of performance income comes from the significant growth of lottery game sales in the country!
• Balanced development of French online and physical games
Stéphane Pallez, chairman and CEO of FDJ Group, revealed that according to the company’s data, business growth last year was stable and balanced, including more than 30,000 retail outlets and online gaming activities in France. In 2022, the company’s outstanding performance is a great thing for all stakeholders, especially employees, retailers and shareholders.
• Lottery performance is more prominent
According to the data of FDJ, it can be found that the growth of lottery revenue is very astonishing. Compared with 2021, the growth rate is 10.9%, reaching 1.91 billion euros. On the other hand, sports betting and online gaming activities also grew upwards, with revenue reaching 467 million euros, a year-on-year increase of 0.6%.
• The 2022 FIFA World Cup brings substantial revenue to the French government
FDJ’s gross gaming revenue last year was as high as 6.52 billion euros, an increase of 8.6% year-on-year. It is worth mentioning that betting during the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 contributed 6% of the total annual revenue. At the same time, FDJ also predicts that the revenue growth rate in 2023 will be about 3%-4%. In January, FDJ cooperated with Ligue 1 football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to launch a new responsible gaming activity. Kylian Mbappé, Neymar Jr and other football stars attended the event.
